No, I would say be careful who you talk to cause you really don't know what's going to happen in the future. Is it ok to talk badly about other artists with friends? Don't create something about a hot topic and expect silence. I think yes, if you are creating artwork about controversial topics, the audience reaction is a part of those controversy. What if you art promotes negative ideals or political stances? Does this warrant negative reviews? Some imitation is intentional some of it just a case of multiple discovery and the two creators never knew about each other. We live in a world where we are all being inspired by each other and our surroundings so things are going to get blended together, its inevitable.
Me? I'm ok with it cause I get to learn about other things that I may have not known about, and most of the time the thing they are relating my work to isn't always a match. Which ok you are within your rights to set those boundaries. I've seen lots of artists say they hate this and others this is fine. Now.this question is pretty convoluted in the community. What if I want to say this reminds me of "_"? If you don't like someone's art its ok to think that, it's another thing to spam the artist with petty "i don't like this " or use any hateful messages. Now, I know some people don't take constructive criticism as well as others. Constructive criticism is where you define what you do like, how to make something better, provide suggestions for improvement.
